SLEDGE DEV TEAM BLANKED BY U.S. IN SERIES FINALE

INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. – Kris Dutkiewicz (Kitchener, Ont.) made 13 saves to keep it close, but Canada’s National Sledge Development Team couldn’t muster any offence in a 2-0 loss to the United States in the finale of a three-game series on Saturday afternoon.

The Canadians were swept by the U.S., including a 2-1 loss on Thursday and 6-3 defeat on Friday night.

While Canada outshot the Americans 11-9 over the last 40 minutes, a first-period goal from Josh Wirt stood up as the winner for the U.S. Billy Henning capped the scoring with an empty-netter in the final minute.

Despite the trio of losses, Canada’s development team still holds an all-time record of 8-4 over its North American rivals – the Canadians won all six meetings between the teams during the 2010-11 season and took two of three from a series in Amherstburg, Ont., in February.
