2008-09 National Men's Under-18 Team

Red 0 - White 2

HALL’S GOAL STANDS AS GAME-WINNER AS TEAM WHITE TAKES INTERSQUAD OPENER

Nathan Lieuwen (Abbotsford, BC/Westside, BCHL) and Olivier Bellavance-Roy (Amqui, QC/Cape Breton, QMJHL)
combined to stop 24 shots for the shutout as Team White beat Team Red 2-0 in the first of three intersquad
games at the 2008 National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team selection camp on Sunday night in Calgary.

Lieuwen got the start for Team White, with Bellavance-Roy coming into the game midway through the
second.

Following a scoreless first period, Taylor Hall (Kingston, ON/Windsor, OHL) gave White a 1-0 lead when his
wrist shot snuck under the crossbar and beat Maxime Clermont (Montreal, QC/Gatineau, QMJHL) at 4:26 of the
second period. Ryan O’Reilly (Seaforth, ON/Erie, OHL) earned the lone assist on the goal.

Team Red came on in the third period and had chances to tie the game, including a shot off the crossbar
from Jimmy Bubnick (Saskatoon, SK/Kamloops, WHL) early in the final frame.

Brayden McNabb (Davidson, SK/Kootenay, WHL) put the game away with just 37 seconds left on the clock,
scoring into an empty net with Team Red goaltender Bryce O’Hagan (Burlington, ON/Sault Ste. Marie, OHL) on
the bench for an extra attacker.

Clermont and O’Hagan stopped 22 of 23 shots in a losing cause.

The two teams will hit the ice again on Monday, at 6 p.m. MT, for the second intersquad game before a
Tuesday matinee (12 p.m. MT) to wrap up the four-day camp.

Hockey Canada will then announce a roster of 22 players that will represent Canada at the 2008 Memorial of
Ivan Hlinka, from August 12-16, in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
