ONTARIO RED BOUNCES BACK WITH FIRST VICTORY AT U18s

After suffering an upset in its opening game, the three-time defending champion Ontario Red team notched its first win in Quebec City, shutting out Alberta 2-0.

Viki Harkness (Berwick, Ont./Ottawa, JWHL) and Sarah Fillier (Georgetown, Ont./Oakville, PWHL) scored one goal apiece in Ontario Red’s victory. Harkness’ goal, assisted by Kristin Della Rovere (Caledon, Ont./Leaside, PWHL), came at 16:33 in the first period. Fillier followed up with an unassisted goal in the dying minutes of the second period.

Madelyn McArthur (St. Catharines, Ont./Oakville, PWHL) turned away 27 shots to earn the shutout win, while Alberta netminder Erin Fargey (Langdon, Alta./Northern Alberta CSSHL) stopped 23 of 25 shots in the game.
