ONTARIO BLUE UNBEATEN IN PRELIMINARY ROUND AT U18 NATIONALS

Maddy Melo (Lucan, Ont./Bluewater, PWHL) notched two assists in Ontario Blue’s 3-1 win over Ontario Red. The team skates away from the preliminary round at U18 Nationals with a 3-0 record.

It was Courtney Correia (Whitby, Ont./Toronto, PWHL) who opened the scoring on a pass from Melo at 10:42 of the opening frame. Melo also assisted on the team’s second goal, scored by Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ont./Oakville, PWHL) whose screened shot from the point beat Ontario Red netminder, Sophie Wolf (Nepean, Ont./Nepean, PWHL).

Lexie Adzija (St. Thomas, Ont./Oakville, PWHL) cut Ontario Blue’s lead in half at 11:38 of the second period, but Ontario Blue came back in the third period with a goal by Correia off the face-off.
