CALGARY, Alta. – With just over six months to go before the puck drops on the 2016 Esso Cup in Weyburn, Sask., Hockey Canada, the Saskatchewan Hockey Association and the host committee are launching full-game ticket packages for the tournament.

Canada’s National Female Midget Championship, the Esso Cup, takes place April 17-23, 2016 at Crescent Point Place in Weyburn. The tournament includes the host Weyburn Gold Wings (2014 Esso Cup champions), along with five regional teams – Atlantic, Ontario, Pacific, Quebec and West.

Full 19-game event ticket packages, which include 15 round-robin games, two semifinals, as well as the bronze- and the gold-medal games, are now available for just $60. For more information on ticket packages, including how to purchase, CLICK HERE.

All preliminary-round games, semifinals and the bronze-medal game will be available through FASTHockey webcasts, while the gold-medal game will air on TSN and RDS, the official broadcasters of Hockey Canada.

“As a host committee we’re really excited to see things falling into place. With the Gold Wings’ home opener this weekend, event tickets will be on sale during both games against the 2015 Esso Cup bronze medallists, the Saskatoon Stars, on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon,” said host committee co-chair Dale Renz. “We’re also excited to announce to hockey fans, the Esso Cup will be making an appearance at Crescent Point Place and everyone who purchases a 2016 Esso Cup event ticket package will have their picture taken with the Cup. We’re expecting to draw a great crowd this weekend, and we’ll have the Gold Wings players joining in the excitement prior to Saturday’s game by distributing Esso Cup posters, giving away some free game admissions, and promoting their home-opener to downtown businesses.”

Renz went on to add they are still looking for 100-150 volunteers to help out during the event, and the committee will be at both weekend games recruiting volunteers. For more information on volunteering, contact co-chair Peter Schaefer at papapete72@gmail.com.
