Campbell and Butler to Speak at Royal Bank Cup Awards Banquet

Halifax, NS - Cassie Campbell, Captain of Team Canada's 2002 Olympic Gold Medal Women's Hockey Team, and Stan Butler, two-time Head Coach and General Manager of Canada's World Junior Hockey Team will speak at the Royal Bank Cup Awards Dinner, Friday, May 3, at 6:00 p.m. at the Port Royal Room, World Trade and Convention Centre.

Head table guests will include His Worship and Honourary Captain of the Halifax Oland Exports, Mayor Peter Kelly, President of Hockey Nova Scotia, Denny Deveau, President of the Major Junior A Hockey League, Eric Thompson, Regional Vice President, RBC Financial, Wayne Bossert, Emcee, Paul Hollingsworth Honourary Event Chair, Fred MacGillivray and the 2002 Royal Bank Cup Event Chair, Chris Larsen.

There will be a silent auction featuring a wide range of hockey memorabilia and collectibles including a autographed Mario Lemieux Olympic jersey, and a hockey stick autographed by Cassie Campbell.

During the evening, the National Junior A year-end awards and Royal Bank Cup Tournament awards will presented. Additionally, a Royal Bank Junior A, $5000 Scholarship will be presented to a graduating junior player who is attending university.

Tickets for the Royal Bank Cup Tournament dinner are available by calling the Halifax Metro Centre box office at 451-1221. Ticket prices are $650 for a table of ten, or $65 per individual ticket. There will be a 6:00 reception for dinner at 7:00 in the Port Royal Room of the World Trade and Convention Centre.

The Royal Bank Cup will bring great hockey and great times to Halifax May 4-12, 2002. Major Junior "A" teams are currently competing to determine which teams will play in the tournament, hosted by the Halifax Oland Exports. The Halifax Oland Exports recently clinched the MJAHL Championship, beating the Campbellton Tigers for the win.
