Jonathan Toews Named Team Captain of Canada's Under-18 Team for Junior World Cup

CALLA, DEGRAY, MAXWELL AND MCGINN NAMED CANADA'S ALTERNATE CAPTAINS

CZECH REPUBLIC -- Shawn Camp, Head Coach of Canada's Under 18 team that is preparing for the 2005 Under 18 Junior World Cup in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia, from August 9-14, named Canada's captain and alternate captains on Monday.

Jonathan Toews, a forward and a native of Winnipeg, MB and who played in 2004-2005 in Shattuck St-Marys in Minnesota, has been named Canada's team captain for the 2005 Under 18 Junior World Cup.

Canada named four alternate captains on Monday, who will rotate through the event:
Alternate captains:
Brady Calla, forward of Kelowna, BC (Everett, WHL)
John de Gray, defense, of Markham, ON (Brampton, OHL)
Ben Maxwell, forward, of North Vancouver, BC (Kootenay, WHL)
Jamie McGinn, forward, of Fergus, ON (Ottawa, OHL) 

Calla and de Gray  will be Canada's alternate captains when the team wears its red jerseys and Maxwell and McGinn will be alternate captains when the team wears its white jerseys.

Canada opens the 2005 Under 18 Junior World Cup on Tuesday when they take on Switzerland.
